While I'm in a fanficcy mood, I decided to go ahead and check off one of the items on my 'to-do' list: fanfiction recommendations.

Here's my first Fanfiction Recommendation of the Week (02/24/06):

Tales From the House of the Moon by Resmiranda

Kagome, now in college, discovers the tale of Sesshomaru and Rin. Grief can be a prison, but the bonds of love are not easily broken. What is the truth behind fairytales? [SessKag] [COMPLETE]

If ever there were an author that should be nominated as Fanfiction God(dess) of the Year, Resmiranda is that someone. Her writing is beautiful beyond words, and Tales From the House of the Moon (imho) should be added to the anime as the real ending, despite the fact that the pairing isn't cannon.

HotM is the story of the beautifully intricate romance between Kagome Higurashi and the sinfully hot *pants* Sesshoumaru.

Now, before anyone runs screaming from this pairing, at least give the first chapter a chance. This isn't one of those 'Inuyasha-Hates-Me-So-I'll-Go-Angst-Over-Him-And-Somehow-Seduce-His-Brother-Even-Though-I'm-Still-Clinging-To-Inuyasha's-Memory' story. The story begins when Kagome, now a college student, discovers the ancient story of the Lord of the West and is drawn back through time once more.

The thing that stands out to me about this story is Resmiranda's amazing ability to get into Kagome's and Sesshoumaru's heads and write plausible, entertaining mental dialogue. This story had me laughing my ass off one moment, then scrabbling frantically for tissues the next. Epic in size, HotM will give you plenty of reading material, and now that it's complete, it won't leave you hanging either.
